Backup to CLS – Collect Label Store
There are many kinds of external mass storage devices. These days, data sizes grow into the extremes. Accordingly, storage media can stack up to piles on the desk.
External hard drives are a cost-effective alternative for storing data quickly and reliably.
Freecom designed a storage solution which makes it easier to find stored data. They have developed a docking station with 3 integrated mini USB ports.
The advantage of this system is that up to three 2.5'' drives can be connected at the same time.
The CLS drives offered by Freecom come in a rubber coating which makes them shock resistant and durable. Notes about the content can be written on a label and displayed in a clear plastic window.
Bundled with the CLS drives, Freecom also ships a hard drive box with blank content booklets and a short USB cable for accessing the data while on the go. |

CLS Backup
Backup to CLS with Z-DBackup
The user-friendly storage medium can be used with Z-DBackup optimally.
For backups to external USB hard drives, Z-DBackup can manage the target hard drives with its integrated USB pool.

In some cases, the backup fails because a user forgets to connect the target drive to the computer. However, if one or more mediums are defined in Z-DBackup which can accomodate the backup, one can make sure that only one dedicated drive is used.

CLS Drive
Transporting CLS drives
The CLS drives are very suitable for transport because the rubber coating protects from shock damage better than a normal aluminum casing.
The enclosed transport box protects the medium from dust and scratches and also has room to keep a list of contents. There is also room for the USB cable.
Our conclusion: the CLS principle is a cost-effective and small solution to bring order to the data chaos. It is not a revolutionary idea, but very practical.
